Lord Wilmore loves to walk among tourists. Hearing foreign languages always refreshes him. That day, we are in front of the Elysée Palace and there is this couple. We no longer see their radiant smile on the final work, but believe Lord: their smile is as wide as the Indian Ocean.
Why do people smile in front of places of power? Do they dream of becoming president or king? Mystery. Why do people take selfies anyway? Mystery.
Back in his den, Lord, who of course photographed these “selfiers” without their knowledge of their own free will, extracts them from this palace universe and immerse them in an ultra colorful digital universe which has become his trademark. He titled the work “Selfie post internet” out of pure contradiction. Because: what would the billions of selfies be without the internet?
A few days go by. Lord is now resolutely turned towards post digital. Understand: redo his digital works with a human hand and non-digital techniques, thereby regaining his dignity in the face of the machine.
“Post Internet Selfie” is Lord Wilmore’s 131st post-digital work. It is entirely painted in acrylic on canvas.
Lord Wilmore, Belgian and multi-map artist, lives near Versailles. He graduated from the art school of
diffusion (IAD). He is a multi award-winning advertising director (in Cannes, New York, Portoroz, Warsaw, Florence …).Since May 2016, Lord Wilmore has exhibited in Ukraine, Corsica, Paris and Brussels, among others.
