Mostafa SBAI (1945-2019), PAINTER
Moroccan painter, born in 1945 in Berkane and died in 2019 in Tetouan.
Graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Paris in 1966, he inaugurated his first workshop in Avignon then in Bordeaux, before settling down in his city of heart, Tetouan, in the north of Morocco, where he was married in 1980 and had 3 children.
Mostafa SBAI has about sixty national and international exhibitions to his credit and has won several prizes, including the first prize awarded by UNESCO in the United States in 1972.
Known for his very particular knife technique. His works bear an authentic stamp or he expresses his talent as a figurative painter.
Mostafa SBAI described his painting as “A noble art, which goes beyond borders and cultures; a true spiritual experience”.
More than 50 years of artistic journey Recognized by art critics for its “Unique and Fascinating” style.
